Monroe, North Carolina, a city of 36,000 people, is located 25 miles southeast of Charlotte. Monroe’s historic main street is lined with interesting restaurants and small shops. The Hilltop Bistro and Bar has been a Monroe favorite since 1930. The restaurant is located on East Roosevelt Boulevard, at the junction of Highways 74 and 601S. They are open for lunch and dinner Tuesday through Saturday. Mucci’s is closed on Sunday and Monday.

The Brown Derby Restaurant on Skyway Drive offers a casual, friendly dining atmosphere. Their menu includes steaks, ribs, seafood, pasta dishes, burgers, and sandwiches. Prices are reasonable. The Brown Derby is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner Monday through Saturday. They are closed on Sunday.
